Women's cycling shoes are almost always built on the consensus that the majority of females have more slender feet than the average man. Like all generalisations, this is not always the case and that's why Shimano have introduced the wider SH-WM41. The narrower heel and lower volume toe area still makes SH-WM41 a great all-round shoe for female riders.

'Better suited to broader feet, these heavy duty women's cycling shoes look and feel like they're built to last.

The heel provides good support, but it's hard to get a snug, even fit along the foot with the round laces supplied – although simply swapping over to a pair of flat laces solved this.

The semi-mesh panels at the front allow air to circulate; great in warm weather, but for colder days you'll need thicker socks – which there's room for – or you'll need a larger sized overshoe.

Cycling performance is enhanced by a stiff sole, yet they still remained comfortable when walking short distances.'
