Shimano's penultimate road bike derailleur, while not being as light as Dura-Ace, still delivers crisp, dependable gear shifts over a 10-cog cassette.

- Wider links. This means that the shift plates that connect the pivot and knuckle are further apart, so they resist flexing and twisting when you shift under load and help deliver Shimano-accurate shifting.
- Total 33t capacity means the RD-6700 can readily cope with a wide gear range set up such as a 34/50 chainset with an 11-28 cassette.

Review
'It'll be no surprise to find that the rear mech has more in common with Dura-Ace than last year's Ultegra, though it's not quite as light. The Dura-Ace rear mech features a carbon fibre pulley cage and titanium bolts. Ultegra dispenses with titanium and carbon fibre and comes with a plastic composite front knuckle. But perhaps more significantly it has wider shift plates than earlier Ultegra mechs, for increased stiffness and better shifting.'
