Shimano Ultegra BR-6700 Dual Pivot Brake
Improved pad compound. Spring tension adjuster. Low-profile outer cable stop. As is the way with Ultegra, the BR-6700 Dual Pivot Brake enjoys most of the Dura-Ace upgrades at a more approachable price.
- For use with Shimano ST-7900 Dura-Ace or ST-6700 Ultegra levers.
- Super SLR redesigned brake arch pivot location for faster linear response.
- Shimano's latest brake pad shoe compound doubles its wet weather stopping power.
- Adjustable spring tension lets you fine tune the brake's feel.
- Smooth-operating QR and cable adjuster.
- The low profile outer cable stop at the top of the cable adjuster facilitates neat cable routing.
- Adjustable toe-in makes it easy to accurately position each brake pad in relationship with the rim (positioning the front of the pad slightly closer to the rim than the rear can help prevent screeches and juddering).
- 49mm drop.
- 160mm.
Review
'There's lots of incremental changes this year but when you hear Shimano say they've upped the stopping power of the brakes in the wet by 100% then that's a grand claim. I'm not going to pretend that I've had the rolling road and the strain gauges out but I have been seriously impressed by the Ultegra 6700 calipers. There's a depth of stopping power there that's definitely a step above most dual pivots I've tried. Shimano say that the performance improvements are down to a repositioned pivot and a new brake compound. This incarnation of the brake also allows you to adjust the spring tension so you can tailor the feel. There's a multi-position quick release so you can adjust the pad clearance easily on the go, and the barrel adjuster is nice and chunky for gloved hands.'
