Possesses an awesome ability to help transform a bum-shifting bike into a perfect gear changer. Shimano's literature recommends using an HG chains with HG cogs & chainrings, and an IG chain with IG cogs & chainrings. Our own experience is that the HG70 works fine on IG transmissions, and being laterally stiffer, the HG lasts longer.
