Revolution Protect Rear Mudguard

Simple but effective, the Revolution Protect Rear Mudguard clamps to the seatpost. It can then be pivoted into the perfect position to catch much of the crud and mud that would otherwise get sprayed up via the rear wheel. This mudguard is a sound idea because as WhatMountainBike mag suggested in November 2007: 'Protecting your arse from spray and mud will keep you warmer than any amount of layering of expensive threads.'

  • Quick release makes this mudguard easy to fit or remove as required.
  • Catches a surprising amount of crud.

Excellent rear mudguard saves getting your back and bottom wet when cycling on a rainy day. Easy to attach and remove when not required, as noted by the other reviewer it does tend to spin easily on the seat post especially when wet, but a strip of anti slip mat wrapped round the seat post and it's now solid. Have tried other mudguards over the past few years, breaking quite a few, but this one has stood the test of time and would highly recommend it.

No tools required made it very simple to fit, and the double hinge makes it fit well on frames that would be too small for a crud catcher, such as my girlfriend's 14" frame. The seatpost fitting doesn't use rubber in the strap, so i find that it spins out of place easier than other alternatives, but you can just twist it back in place, so it's no big deal.
Ask a question
Q. Would this be suitable to fix to a road bike?
A. It is really intended for MTB use as it is much wider than a road rear mudguard. You might be better off with the Revolution Protect Road Mudguard Set even if you only use the rear.
Q. So, with this being easy to fit and easy to remove, does that mean it's easy for a thief to remove as well? i.e. if I want to lock it up, I need to take the mudguard off as well?
A. The rear protect mudguards is easy to remove and could potentially be stolen. It simply clips on and off. If you are locking your bike up and leaving for a length of time then it could be worth removing any easily stolen items such as mudguards and lights.
