    Revolution Pathfinder

The Revolution Pathfinder is our statement that you don't have to sacrifice comfort to enjoy a bike ride. The Pathfinder's defining feature is its high-rise easy-to-reach handlebars. Compared with many of today's performance bicycles, which oblige you to stretch flat-backed to reach the low handlebars, the Pathfinder lets you sit upright and ride tall in the saddle. As such it's a modern stylish take on the classic 'sit up and beg' bike.

To create a bike that stands out from the crowd we designed the Pathfinder from the ground up starting with the frame. Compared with any of our mountain bikes, the Pathfinder's top tube is shorter and the head tube is longer.

Fit this frame with a 50mm-travel suspension fork and a long quill stem and you have that rarity - a modern bicycle whose bars can be set higher than the saddle. What's more the stem's adjustable-rise feature let's you fine tune your riding position.

We insisted on equipping our comfort bike with a decent set of mudguards. That way, you should never experience the discomfort of road splash.

The frame is aluminium as are the Tektro V-brakes and 26" wheels. The gears are Shimano 21-speed with Revo twist shifters. Equipping the bike with such proven equipment is our guarantee that we don't compromise performance in the pursuit of comfort.

    Revolution Pathfinder Features

    • 7005-series comfort geometry (extra long head tube) aluminium frame. This alloy frame helps make the bike light enough to ride uphill without too much effort. Even if you're only moderately fit. Yet it's built strong and true so it comes with a lifetime warranty.
    • Comfort Geometry means that the head tube is noticeably longer than an MTB frame’s while the top tube is shorter. This makes the handlebars simultaneously higher yet closer-reach, thus enabling a more upright riding position and therefore less strain on the back; less crick in the neck; less pressure from the nose of the saddle and less weight on the hands and wrists.
    • The frame's eyeletted seat stays and dropouts make it pannier rack and full mudguard compatible.
    • SunTour alloy chainset with disc chainguard.
    • Shimano 21-speed EZ Fire gear shifters - very light action means they are as easy to use as their name implies.
    • Alloy wheels - lighter weight and better braking surface than steel rims. QR (quick release) for convenience - no need to carry a spanner to remove the wheels.
    • Tektro V-brakes are the best Shimano copies we've had the pleasure to use.
    • 15.48kg / 34.12lb (based upon weighing one example of this bike. We weigh the whole bike as you would receive it with pedals reflectors and bell - items many bike companies remove before weighing their bicycles. Weights can fluctuate between different sizes and builds so please regard our published weights as a useful but inexact guide.)

    Arran
I purchased my Pathfinder in Jan 07, originally for forestry roads and cycle paths. It has proven to be excellent for anywhere a non-mountain biker would want to take a bike. I take it on boating holidays, to do the food shopping and have done many hundreds of miles along country lanes with 30lbs of groceries in panniers. I have used it on a weekly basis on the forestry roads of Arran, equipped with schwalbe snow stud tyres have even cycled on snow-covered roads at -14C. The fat tyres and front suspension give confidence when cycling in the dark, having twice cycled from Edinburgh to Glasgow along the canal after dark. I also have a touring bike but find the pathfinder better for the sharp bends and uneven surfaces often found on cycle paths I chose the upright geometry because I have arthritic joints and a damaged disc. It suites me fine and would not change it for a more expensive bike. After 5 years of hard wear many of the components have had to be changed, the wheels, brakes and handle bars and shifters are original, also front gear. At this price you cannot go wrong.
