Revolution Explore 20 '16
The Revolution Explore 20 is, for the money, one of the lightest weight bikes for kids from 5/6 years old.
Unlike the majority of kids' bikes, which are mountain bike styled, the Explore 20 is made for the pavement, streets and cyclepaths.
Instead of 20x2 inch knobbly tyres, the Explore 20 rolls faster on lighter weight Kenda 20x1.5-inch tyres. For all their lower rolling resistance, these semi-smooth tyres are still plenty tough.
Instead of suspension forks, the Revolution Explore 20 comes with a hi-tensile steel fork, which is lighter weight and which will never require maintenance.
Being our own Revolution kids' bike, every part is chosen with the same care we devote to spec'ing our adult bikes.
The 7005 aluminium alloy frame is lightweight and strong as are the 36-spoke alloy wheels.
The Tektro alloy Mini V-brakes wouldn't look out of place on a £500 adult bike.
Child-friendly Shimano Revo twistshifters make it easy to zap through the six gears.
Put all this together and you have an excellent bike which, thank to its informed spec and its lighter weight, will be easier to ride and easier to manoeuvre - the key characteristics that make for a bike you will really love, whatever your age.
Built as strong as it's light, a Revolution Explore 20 will offer years of fun till it's outgrown once the rider is 8-10 years old.
Looked after, it will almost certainly be fit to pass on to the next lucky rider.
