Revolution Contact Flat Pedals
Who said Edinburgh flats are expensive?
Such is the consensus that the first rule for improving trail skills is to get yourself a pair of flat platform pedals, you won't even be allowed on most Trails Skills Courses with any other style of pedal.
- CNC-machined aluminium main body.
- Smooth-turning sealed bearings.
- Classic concave profile for a wide, comfortable platform that facilitates subtle changes in foot position (and thus rests the knees from the strain of perpetually riding in the same position).
- Knurled top + eight screw-in pins per side facilitate foot retention.
- Slimmer profile than most flatties - less likely to take a bashing.
- 548g.
Revolution Contact Flat Pedals - a personal view from Edinburgh Bike Co-op's Ged Holmyard.
For most road rides I prefer to use 'clipless' Time ATAC pedals. But as soon as I hit the trails, I'm much happier to let my feet roam free on a big secure platform that allows me to alter my foot position or dab instantly when required.
For that very reason, when there's ice on the roads, I switch the Times for Revolution Contact Flat Pedals on my road bike too.

Great flats at a very reasonable price. I've fitted these to my touring bike as I don't trust myself with clipless pedals. I've done a lot of miles with these pedals, and for one of the 'contact points' on the bike they are faultless. Highly recommended. |

No tools required made it very simple to fit, and the double hinge makes it fit well on frames that would be too small for a crud catcher, such as my girlfriend's 14" frame. The seatpost fitting doesn't use rubber in the strap, so i find that it spins out of place easier than other alternatives, but you can just twist it back in place, so it's no big deal. |

Perfect for starting out with. Large thin profile with enough grip to keep your feet in place, with the option of installing longer pins for a more "grippy" experience on the rougher stuff. Easily maintained axle and sealed bearings, a little on the heavy side, but a versatile, affordable and good looking pedal. |
