At first glance these panniers give a good impression. The materials are strong and water tight. However upon using I found that adjustment was limited and the Altura components (clips, rail and hooks) are at best cheap. There is nothing to stop the hooks from just sliding straight off as mine did on a longer ride. One of the clips at the top has broken and now side seams of the actual bag are coming apart. Whilst the material still looks dandy. I would in future pay a few extra pennies and avoid anything with Altura parts. Oh and they are red not orange as they appear on the web page. |

Waterproof, sturdy, easy to pack. The brackets are a bit tight but work very well. The handles make them easy to carry when off the bike. Have used them once or a few times a week for about 5 months and they still look like new. These are my first real panniers and I'm surprised at how much they can hold. The colour is "Revolution" red rather than the orange shown in the picture: a pleasant surprise. |

Very impressed with these panniers. I'm planning to do some touring this summer, and I needed some panniers to get me on my way. I'd looked around and had seen plenty of cheap options, but reviews always revealed that the cheaper equipment was generally flimsy, and would fall apart. These panniers are superb. I've been using them through the winter for commuting, and they have held up perfectly to the task. A few weeks ago, I had the misfortune of a low-side crash (greasy road at a junction), and I fell off at 22mph (so says Garmin). The pannier did a great job of protecting my rear mech! Even better, despite sliding on tarmac a good distance, putting a hole in my thermal tights (and my thigh), the pannier survived so surprisingly well, you can barely see any damage at all - just a very vague scuff mark. Certainly no holes or tears; I am genuinely surprised at how tough these panniers are. They fit very well (and very easily) onto the rear rack with no fumbling around with clips or closings - one horizontal hook low down, and two hangers with simple ratchet fasteners up top - simply drop the pannier on at an angle (to engage the lower hook), then seat the two hooks and close the fasteners. Job done. They're perfectly waterproof. They hold as much as you'd expect at 20l capacity (with a handy zip-mesh pocket in the 'lid'), and they're extremely tough. I am 100% happy with my purchase, and I enthusiastically recommend these panniers to anyone that's in the market. |
