Q. 1. What are the rim dimensions, in respect to tyres (I.e. does it take 28,30,32,35mm tyres. 2. Whether the cassette locknut utilises a generic shimano locknut tool
A. Both 7 and 8/9 speed versions of this wheel have an internal dimension of 19mm so the minimum tyre size we would recommend is 28c, and up to around 45c will fit fine. The type of tool required to remove the lockring would depend on your cassette, if you were fitting a Shimano cassette then you would need a Park FR 5 (see here).
Q. Please can you tell me what the overlock nut dimension is for the hub of these wheels. I need a 7speed rear replacement, but have 130mm spacing on my dropouts, rather than 135mm. My bike is an old Specialised Crossroads Sport hybrid. Thank you
A. The QR Aluminium 700c (7spd) wheel has an OLD (Over Locknut Dimension) of 135mm (standard mtb sizing). It's quite straight forward to cut the axle and non-driveside spacer down by 5mm to make this wheel fit your frame and then re-dish the wheel to centre. This wheel takes a splined cassette that fits onto the wheel's freehub body. The 'Narrow Rim' version of this wheel (as normally fitted to road-bikes) has on OLD of 130mm, but will not take a cassette as it is a screw-on fitting that takes multi-freewheels instead.
