- Lezyne is the latest venture of Micki Kozuscheck - founder and one-time owner of TruVativ - a guy with a track record of designing top class cycling equipment.
Lezyne was founded by Micki Kozuschek, who had previously made his name in his native Germany as a professional triathlete with an engineering background. He then moving to the USA where he founded Truvativ. This component manufacturer became so admired for the quality and strength of their cranks, SRAM gave Micki an offer he couldn't refuse so he sold Travativ to them in 2003.
After a sabbatical, Micki returned to manufacturing with the launch of Lezyne in 2007. His goal: to engineer quality accessories built to the same standards as the best bicycle components.
He insisted that anything with the Lezyne - Engineered Design logo had to be exquisitely designed, intelligently engineered and functionally complete.
To this end, Lezyne built their own HQ and test lab in California and opened their own factory in Taichung - a city which Micki regards as 'bike city Taiwan' in the way that Detroit was 'motor city USA' in the 1960s.
We discovered that quality control is king with Lezyne in 2008 when we received our first delivery of their original Alloy Drive Mini Pumps. One glance revealed that the pump's alloy piston and body were machined to perfection. Even more intriguing, the pump came with the best-made hosewe had ever seen. This robust but flexible rubber hose featured a machined threaded alloy Presta connector on one end and a Schrader connector on the other. Thanks to its secure connection, its valve-friendly design and its overall build quality, the Lezyne Alloy Drive was one of the best mini pumps we had ever tested. It also answered a real need if you were one of the fair few cyclists who never got on with push-fit pumps.
Since 2008, the variety of pumps Lezyne produce has grown and grown along with their equally well thought-out ranges of Lezyne bicycle tools, Lezyne bicycle bags and Lezyne bicycle lights.
To further ensure quality control, Lezyne sponsor a select group of cyclists including Cedric Gracia, Danny MacAskill and Remy Absalon. That way, you can be sure that if it's labelled Lezyne - Engineered Design, you can be sure that your pump, light or whatever will have been torture tested to the max.

great little pump, far superior to my last top peak pump.it screws onto the valve so no fiddling trying to get a good seal.inflates quick for such a small pump and it looks cool too,a little bag to keep it clean would be a nice touch which would enable it to be kept on the frame for convenience(a downfall of all pumps,as it's the grime that destroys the seals) but it's small enough to store in your backpack.
Was so fed up with those mini push-on pumps that are so popular these days. I'd bought a couple of different ones, but just found them totally useless. I couldn't even get them to push on to the valve on a flat tyre, and felt really frustrated. So I popped into the Edinburgh Bike Co-op, and explained my problem to a knowledgeable member of staff. He showed me a few Lezyne pumps, and I settled on the pressure drive mini pump with hose. I chose this pump because it looks and works exactly like a traditional bike pump, so its easy to use every time and no faffing around. The quality is top grade, and it really packs out a lot of air, which is exactly what you want when dealing with a flat. Another great thing about it is the adapter, which as it's double ended, can screw onto either Schrader or Presta valves. I like this pump so much that I bought a second one, exactly the same, for my wife, and have recommended Lezyne pumps to a number of friends who've also bought them. If you need a new pump for your bike, you can't go wrong with this one. It might be a little bit more expensive than a lot of others out there, but it really is worth it.
Brilliant! I've always had problems getting my tyre pressure really hard, even with a track pump, but this one works. Expensive but worth it, very neat too, doesn't take up any room in my saddlebag. I don't like leaving a pump on the down tube.
This is probably the best hand pump I have ever bought. It's a little bit more expensive than other alternatives, but it is easily worth it. The full-metal build quality is fantastic (though the finish scratches easily!) and the rubber hose means that you don't put undue pressure on the valve while pumping. It also allows you to easily switch between presta and schrader valves depending on which way around you screw on the hose, rather than fiddling around with re-arranging the internals of the pump head (as with most other designs). When you're finished the hose stores inside the body of the pump. Well designed and well executed. Absolutely brilliant.
