    Q. 1) Can these bikes be fitted with the Alfine11 hub
2) Could they be fitted with racks and mudguards and used for touring.
    A. You could fit an Alfine 11 speed hub to the Day 01 Alfine 8 however Genesis also offer the Day 01 in an Afline 11 speed spec for 2012. Either bikes are compatible with a Pannier Rack and full mudguards, as the bikes are fitted with disc brakes you would need to fit a disc specific rack such as the M:Part Ridge Pannier Rack. Full Full SKS p45 Muguards would also fit either model allowing for use of a 28-35c tyre. The only thing to note is that with mudguards and horizontal dropouts removing the bikes rear wheel is tricky. To do this the mudguard needs to be partially removed. Fortunately Genesis spec good quality Continental tyres, which offer good puncture resistance so this should not be a problem too often.
