Focus Raven 6.0 '12

  • When he founded Focus Bicycles in 1992, Mike Kluge was one of the most winning mountain bikers on the planet.
  • It is little surprise that his full carbon Raven XC bike combines stiffness, comfort and agility to create a dream XC ride.
  • Shimano STX/XT shifting, RockShox Reba forks, Magura MT2 brakes - the spec isn't too shabby either.

Focus Raven 6.0

When he founded Focus Bicycles in 1992, Mike Kluge was one of the most winning mountain bikers on the planet. It is little surprise that his full carbon Raven combines stiffness, comfort and agility to create a dream XC ride.

The carbon frame design highlights Focus's cutting edge composite technology expertise.

  • Stable Stiffness Per Size means that an XS Raven frame will have narrower diameter tubes than a small, and so on.
  • Chainstay Postmount. The disc brake calliper's post-mount is located on the non-drive side chain stay which is both stiffer and stronger than the narrower seat-stay. Braking forces are thus directly transferred into the frame where it's strongest. The Focus post mount positions the brake in front of the chain stay to take advantage of the additional cooling airflow.
  • Trapezoidal chainstays and flattened lenticular seat stays offer an optimal balance of rigidity and comfort - the goal of every carbon frame design.
  • Reinforced Integrated Cable Tunnels enable internal cable routing and contributes to the Focus Raven 6.0's clean appeal.
  • What's more, unlike many internal routing systems, the Raven's internal cable conduit guarantees smooth, kink-free cable routing, while making it relatively simple to change cables in the future.
  • The BB30 system employs an oversized bottom bracket shell and oversized industrial bearings for enhanced frame strength, stiffness and bearing longevity.
  • The tapered steerer and head tube reinforces that highly stressed part of the bike, improves steering (wider bearing races) and helps eliminate the risk of brake judder.

With all that going for it, you would be forgiven for suspecting that Focus might have cut corners on the spec of the Raven 6.0. Shimano STX 3x10 shifters, XT mech, RockShox Reba SL 100mm forks, Magura MT2 hydraulic disc brakes, Continental Race King foldable 26x2.0 tyres. Can't see any corners cut here.
