Focus Cayo Evo 4.0 Ultegra C

Best buy in Shimano Ultegra-equipped UCI-approved carbon road bikes.

  • Milan - San Remo (the longest professional 1 day race) -proven carbon frame.
  • Although race-proven the Cayo Evo frame has a slightly taller head tube than a Focus Izalco frame.
  • Its PF30 bottom bracket is a more refined version of BB30.
  • As with BB30 the 30mm diameter aluminium spindle saves weight and the larger diameter bearings last longer, while the oversized BB shell provides a larger interface with the down tube, seat tube and chain stays. The resulting improvement in torsional stiffness rewards you with an immediate and noticeable power response every time you put pressure on the pedals.
  • The PF30 bottom bracket is encased in a plastic sleeve to make it even more weatherproof, then it's pressed into the bottom bracket shell.
  • The frame's internal cable routing is incredibly refined. For instance the front derailleur cable emerges just in front of the mech.
  • The tapered steerer and head tube reinforce that highly stressed part of the bike, improves steering (wider bearing races) and helps eliminate the risk of the brakes juddering.
  • Focus Cayo Evo T4 full carbon fork.
  • Shimano Ultegra 2x10 shifters and mechs offer super smooth gear changing.
  • The compact gearing (34/50 chainrings on 12-27 cassette) is suitable for a wide variety of terrains.
  • Shimano Ultegra brakes are superb stoppers.
  • Genuine Fulcrum WH-CEX 6.5 2:1 ratio wheels.
  • Prologo Nago Evo saddle.
  • Continental Radsport 700x23 tyres complete the Made in Germany reliability theme.

Q. Hi, i am thinking of upgrading to this bike shortly and was wandering if it would be compatible and not too aggressive as i am not a road racer more a sportif and was wanting some thing a bit more speadier and lighter as the bike i have at present is the Giant defy 1
A. The Focus Cayo Evo would certainly offer a lighter and more responsive ride than your current Giant Defy. It does have a more race orientated geometry then the Defy however not to the same extent as bikes like the Giant TCR or Focus Izalco. The Cayo Evo models fall between the Focus Ergoride range, their comfort orientated road bikes and their Izlaco range which is purely race focused. The Cayo Evo is a sporty road bike that should suit both aspirational racers and sportiv riders alike. It will likely feel a bit more aggressive than your Defy however not to the extent that it is uncomfortable on a longer ride. If you can do so it would be worth trying a Focus Cayo Evo to see how the riding position feels for you. There are slightly larger jumps between sizes with the Cayo compared to the Defy so sizing can be a bit trickier. We do have the Cayo Evo 4.0 on display in our stores for you to try if you are close by. If not we are happy to advise on sizing if you let us know how tall you are and your inside leg, also which size of Defy you have would be worth knowing
