Early Rider Spherovelo
The safest introduction to early riding.
When we saw our first Early Rider balance bike we thought it displayed Dyson-like British design genius. This comparison becomes even more apt when you hear about their Spherovelo.
Early Rider’s inventor, Andy Loveland, describes his Ride-On-style balance bike as a Spherovelo. Replacing the wheels with balls makes Juno an incredibly stable and confidence-inspiring first ride for kids as young as 1 year old.
Once the youngster gains confidence, the Spherovelo can be set to ‘safely unstable’ mode. To do this, all you have to do is remove the 'stabiliser balls' on the middle of the Juno's undercarriage.
This leaves the Spherovelo with just front and rear 'spheres'. This encourages the child to develop the sense of balance and equilibrium required to keep upright and moving - same as a youngster would on a balance bike or a conventional bicycle.
The difference here is that, because it rolls on balls rather than wheels, the Spherovelo is far less likely to fall or tip the toddler over.
- The outer shell is high-grade ABS plastic - like a good quality skate lid.
- The wheels are polyurethane.
- The seat is padded.
- The handlebars are birch.
- The Spherovelo's total weight is just 2 kilo.

|First off, I think this is a real thing of beauty, and a brilliant piece of design. The fact that the rear ball can rotate in any direction makes it so manoeuvrable, and my son really loved it. We had this for a few months, and then got given a second hand likeabike so we had that lying around the house as well. The best recommendation I can make for the Juno is that it was so successful at introducing a sense of balance that it meant my son was off round the kitchen on the likeabike in no time Because of the Juno, getting him to use a pedal-less bike was easy. The hard part was getting him to wear his helmet!|
|I bought my daughter this for her first birthday and have to say it's the best thing we have bought her yet. As soon as she opened the box she climbed on it and was off. No need for assembly or instructions, just let your little one discover how it works by themselves. Our little girl loves riding around the living room and kitchen and it works on both carpet and tiles. All of our friends with children thought we were mad buying this as it dosent look like a conventional bike but once their little ones played on it they are considering buying one too.|
