The Bic pen of bicycle tools. Better quality tools exist, but when you've nothing else, the dumbell is indispensable. Just the other day, I needed a 7mm spanner to complete the assembly of a flatpack barbecue. Once again the trusty dumbell came into its own.
- Cheap enough to carry at all times in the saddle bag, ever ready to complete a quick fix on you or your mate's bike. (If the dumbell gets nicked it's not a tragedy, as a stolen Topeak Alien might be.)
- The very dab for removing/tightening wheel nuts or adjusting the saddle height on QR-less bikes.
