Given the weight and loads these 2mm-thick lengths of steel have to support, there's a lot to be said for buying the best - DT Swiss cold-forged stainless steel spokes.

  • Like double butted frame tubes, these Competition Spokes are thicker were most stressed - the ends where the spokes join the rim and hub - and thinner in the middle to save weight and absorb shock.
  • Cold forged.
  • Supplied with brass nipples.
  • 267g for 64 (compare with 445g for 64 plain gauge spokes).

The spokes I received were beautifly made compared with spokes I got from another dealer.I will definitely buy from Edinburghbicyclecooperative again. A first class service.
Ask a question
Q. Hi, how do i know what length of spoke to order to fit a Maddux TC5.0 wheel, with 700x35c tyres? Thanks, David
A. To work out what length of spoke you require we would recommend measuring the spokes on your wheel. To get an accurate measurement it would be best to remove a spoke (from the same side of the wheel) and use a spoke ruler. If you are just replacing a broken spoke then you could take a measurement without removing a spoke. To do so measure the spoke from the bend (from behind the centre of the head of the spoke) to the end where it enters the nipples. Adding around 10-12mm for the threaded section within the nipple will give you the spoke length. This would be sufficient for replacing a broken spoke.
Q. What size nipple is supplied with these DT Competition DB Stainless Steel Spokes?
A. We supply 12mm brass nipples (from DT) with any DT Comp spoke. Aluminium nipples (12mm) can be bought separately if preferred.
