Cervélo C5 DA Disc '16
This is the Cervélo C5 endurance road bike, Shimano Dura-Ace equipped.
The introduction of Cervélo C-Series bicycles is quite possibly the most exciting 2016 bike launch for riders looking for a superbly engineered road bike, perfected for long-haul sportives and étapes rather than pure racing.
C-Series - Cervélo's First Endurance Road Bikes
After years of producing some of the world's most admired race-ready road bikes, Cervélo are sure to broaden their appeal with the introduction of their all-new C-series range of endurance road bikes.
Being Cervélo, the C-series full-carbon frame is built light and true with the same engineering savvy as their R-Series classic road bikes and their S-Series aero road bikes. Published weights are a very respectable 975g for the C3 frame and 850g for the C5 - possible an industry-best for an endurance road bike made for disc brakes.
To ensure a comfortable ride over the distances these bikes will excel at, Cervélo C-Series bikes have a longer wheelbase and a more relaxed head angle (70-71.5 degrees depending on frame size).
Cervélo R-Series Paris-Roubaix-proven seatstays are famed for being among the skinniest in the pro peloton. Their C-Series seatstays are skinnier still. Better still, these stays are curved to meet the main frame lower down the seat tube at a more acute angle to further reduce buzz and improve compliance.
Match the seatstays with short 42cm chainstays, the resulting tight rear triangle maximises power output and makes the whole bike feel more ‘alive’, responsive and quicker steering.
Clearance For Wider Tyres
In keeping with the latest research, explaining why good quality wider tyres can not only be more shock absorbing than skinny road tyres, they can also be faster, Cervélo C-Series bikes come fitted with 700x28 tyres.
To ensure the easiest lever action, every Cervélo C-Series bike comes with disc brakes. Being Cervélo, they don't even consider fitting a lower-power cable-operated brake. To guarantee fingertip-control performance and maximum reliability, every C-Series is fitted with either Shimano's or SRAM's best hydraulic disc brakes.
Cervélo C-Series frame and forks are built for thru axle wheels to help ensure perfect wheel retention and alignment and thus help eliminate the risk of speed-robbing rotor rub.
