CAAD8 means that this lightweight road racing bike is built on an 8th generation Cannondale Advanced Aluminium Design frame. Talk about being highly evolved.
- The 'C' in the bike's name (Cannondale CAAD8 105 C) refers to its FSA Gossamer 34/50 COMPACT chainset which combines with the 12-28 Shimano Tiagra 10 speed cassette to yield a fantastic range of gears, which can be changed with the slightest flick of the wonderful Shimano 105 Dual Control shifters.
- The Hourglass seatstays help damp bad vibes. The chainstays are asymmetrical to reinforce the drivetrain side and optimise power transfer. The head tube is thicker at the top and bottom for extra strength and precise headset installation, thinner in the middle to save grams.
- The BB30 bottom bracket is another much-copied Cannondale innovation. It's 30mm diameter aluminium spindle saves weight while the oversized BB shell provides a larger interface with the down tube, seat tube and chain stays. The resulting improvement in torsional stiffness rewards you with an immediate and noticeable power response every time you put pressure on the pedals.
