Bern Watts EPS Helmet
The Bern Watts Helmet's distinctive styling sets it apart from the rest. Check that brim! This integral visor does a superb job of keeping glare off the eyes.
Sure it's not as vented as a high-end road or mountain bike lid but, for many, the Bern Watts is way cooler.
Bern lids look so good and feel so comfortable, you'll see them sported by people who've previously sworn off wearing a bike helmet.
As with every Bern cycling helmet the Watts stands out for its exceptional fit and its low-profile design. Bern coined the phrase 'sink fit' to emphasise their lids' deep surround feel and to describe how a Bern helmet wraps around (rather than perches on top of) the head.
If you like the Bern Watts look, but would rather ride peak-free, consider the Bern Macon.
Bern liner / headband
Every Bern cycling helmet features a unique snap-fit liner/headband to help ensure comfort and an exceptionally good fit. The headband is adjustable via its CrankFit dial. The liner is padded and fast wicking for comfort. Thanks to its snap-fitting, the liner is easily removable should you ever want to hand-wash it. You'll be able to swap the helmet's original liner for a warmer winter liner when it becomes available as a spare part in mid 2015.
- EPS refers to the Bern Watts' impact-absorbing EPS expanded polystyrene liner. (Bern also make non-EPS snowboard helmets but they're not certified for bicycle use).
- The ABS outer hardshell will fend of knocks that might bruise a regular cycling helmet's microshell top layer.
- Manufacturer's published weight: 442g.
'By fusing helmet design elements used for action sports; from cycling to skating, Bern has managed to produce a helmet as popular with fashion- conscious urban cyclists as it is with extreme sports fanatics. The Watts is simple, original and is a world away from the technical designs of most high-end cycle helmets.'
Independent Newspaper review of the 10 best cycling helmets, May 2013.
'The Watts is a bike helmet inspired by skate style. Developed in 2007, the Watts is the successor of Bern’s signature model the Baker You asked for the Baker with vents and you got it. Today the Watts is one of Bern’s most valued all-around lids.'
