Revolution Air Track Pump - Best Buy Cycling Plus October 2004

'A track pump is an essential part of every cyclist's armoury. Well pumped up tyres not only roll better they're more able to ward off punctures too. In the past good ones tended to cost quite a bit of money, well that was the theory. Coming in at under £20 this offering from Revolution (Edinburgh Bicycle's own better brand) features a steel barrel, aluminium double foot plate with plenty of grip, and a nice wide T-handle. Those are the basics of any good track pump, but add features like top-mounted easy-to-read gauge, long hose, a great valve which fits Presta or Schraeder and a whopping 58cm stroke to shift a large volume of air each time and - disregarding the price - this is already a great pump. That long stroke combined with a barrel that isn't too wide makes it a good all-rounder well able to cope with high-volume MTB and hybrid tyres and high pressure road ones. It took us a very reasonable 21 strokes to get 100psi out of it. It's not loaded up with fancy features - though it has all the ones you'll need - it works a treat, is well made, stunning value, and spares are available too. What more could you want?

Verdict: 9/10 Top quality track pump on an amazing budget.'
