Revolution Stow Sport Rucsac - 9/10 Cycling Plus Recommended Buy: November 2004

'Branded Revolution (Edinburgh Bicycle's own brand) made by Vaude, this cycling-specific rucsac offers good capacity with some handy features, such as reflective logos, a helmet holder, LED tabs, and one large and 2 smaller compartments. The large will readily accept a change of clothes, while the others will comfortably swallow a multi-tool, spare tube, pump, patch kit etc. Unlike conventional rucsacs, this uses a frame which keeps the rucsac off the rider's back allowing a free flow of air between back and pack. This, along with the sternum straps, keeps sweating to a minimum even on hot days and eliminates tiresome and intrusive 'sway'.

There is a slot cut in the main compartment so you can carry a CamelBak bladder or similar hydration system, adding to its versatility as a good day-ride bag.

The Revolution is also ideal for moderate commutes of up to 15 miles (round trip) and a good size to carry and keep dry a change of clothes and shoes for your work day - a decent option for riders who do not like, or cannot use, panniers. The waterproofing is effective and in everyday use it seems durable - the stowaway rain cover is a nice touch and suitably eye-wateringly bright to the eyes of other road users coming at you from the side or behind, particularly on dimly lit roads.

Verdict: Comfortable, excellent value, well designed and made, great for medium or day rides.'

A note on the name
When this rucsac was reviewed, it was simply called the Revolution Stow. We now call it the Revolution Stow Sport to differentiate it from the 2 new additions to our rucsac range: the smaller Revolution Stow Lite £29.95 and the larger Revolution Stow Expert £49.95).
