Bike Co-op Open New Shop in Edinburgh
Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op are delighted to announce the opening of our second shop in Edinburgh. The store’s Canonmills location will already be familiar to many Edinburgh cyclists because there has been a cycle shop at that address (30 Rodney Street, EH7 4EA) for many years - the most recent trading as, The Bike Chain.
Our spokesman, Ged Holmyard, explained why we are extremely excited to be opening a second branch in our native city.
"We have worked hard to make our shop on Bruntsfield Links a destination of choice for cyclists and cyclists-to-be since the 1970s. However, we are acutely aware that the modern retailer must strive to make shopping as convenient as possible for our potential customers. Having a second shop in the vibrant environs of Canonmills will perfectly complement our offer in Bruntsfield by making it easier for the folk of north Edinburgh to experience our unique mix of exceptional bicycles and cycle equipment, backed up with excellent service."
About Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative
Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative is a different kind of cycle retailer. Founded in 1977, we're Britain’s longest-established co-operatively-run bicycle business where every time-served staff member has an equal share in the business.
We believe that this inclusive ethos should carry into every interaction with every customer.
Most important, we fervently believe that the complete novice should feel as comfortable in one of our shops as an elite cyclist. Whether you’re looking for an inexpensive bike to get around on, or for the latest must-have accessory, such as a GoPro HD helmet camera, you can expect the same level of friendly, enthusiastic service at every Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative shop.
Equally important, our shops are staffed by genuine cycling enthusiasts who are delighted to offer advice and share their expertise, while you browse the fantastic range of bicycles and cycle equipment on show in our shops.
This inclusiveness also means that Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative support every cycling activity - off road and on road - whether the bike is your method of transport, your sport, your recreation or a mixture of these elements.
The fact that the Bicycle Co-op now employ 110 full co-op members (with dozens more staff serving their one-year "apprenticeship") suggests that we've hit upon a winning formula.
No strangers to expansion, the co-op has grown from a single outlet shop in Edinburgh to a multi-branch cycle retailer, with eight shops serving six cities from Aberdeen in the north to Manchester and Sheffield in the south.
With the opening of our latest shop in Canonmills, Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op look forward to making our offer even more accessible.
